Hope that Nordnet keeps its promise

This time, only 1 phone call to Nordnet was needed for the payment to take place. The young man on customer service who took my call this morning took his job seriously. Within 4 hours Nordnet had paid the dividend plus he called me with an explanation of the problem.

All credit to the young man at customer service who actually did as he promised. According to him, they will be extra vigilant on Oxford Lane Capital Corp. Preferred Stock Shares (OXLC) next month to ensure this does not happen again.

For better or worse

The near-global recession underway will claim casualties. As revenues and profits decline, CEOs, CFOs and owners around the world will cut off funding to companies that haven't generated a profit in years.

An acquaintance of ours works at such a company. The company has only had growth as a goal and has not delivered a profit in just over 10 years. Instead, the owners have made new issues on a continuous basis.

Sometimes it's good to separate the wheat from the chaff, but at the same time, the world can lose innovative startups that need a little help along the way.

The line between clearing the market of weak companies and the risk of losing innovative start-ups is fine.

All good things are three

Sometimes I am almost overwhelmed by how much you can love a child. When the world's most perfect teenager was a baby, I could be overwhelmed with love for him almost daily.

Every time this happened I didn't think I could love him more than I did, but oh how wrong I was. The older he gets the less often it happens. It still happens, although not as often.

I must suffer from "an enlarged heart". How else can I fit in all this love I have for the world's most perfect teenager and the world's most perfect husband?!

Where is our money?!

I guess Nordnet has missed Oxford Lane Capital Corp. Preferred Stock Shares (OXLC) dividend for January, as so many times before. I'll call them tomorrow morning and ask what's going on...again.

I bet they will do as usual, promise to look into the matter and email an answer. Instead they pay the dividend within 12 hours without giving any feedback at all.

Nordnet's customer care is currently abysmal.

I am not willing to risk my financial old age for a financial institution to be the face of "good values".

During the 1990s, it was decided that a new general pension system would be introduced in Sweden.

A part of the employee's public pension was to be placed on the stock exchange, and in autumn 2000 the employee could make his first own choice. If no choice was made, the money was placed on AP7, which is the government's pre-selection option.

It is the Swedish Pension Agency that places and manages all pension money in AP7. Both my husband and I made an active choice and chose different private financial institutions.

Mainly due to, government agencies have a preference for choosing funds that primarily focus on the environment, ethics, sustainability and even start-ups instead of giving their client the absolute best return.

One example is Cake 0 Emission AB, which produced an electric dirt bike called Cake Bike. The company was started in 2016 and in 2018 the first model Kalk was launched.

In 2020, the company sold 1,700 bikes and the goal was that by 2030 the company would sell 70,000 bikes per year. Instead, the company was declared bankrupt on February 1, 2024.

The only owner prepared to step in with additional funding and save the company was AMF, which is an occupational pension company and pre-selection for privately employed workers. Neither my husband nor I have any savings in AMF.

Invest in the environment, ethics, sustainability or start-ups involves a risk where the capital may lose value or be completely wiped out. My pension money will secure my old age.
