Aim for the stars

Last Thursday night, the world's most perfect teenager made his choices for his upcoming IB Diploma Program (DP) education. He is currently in Year 10 which is the preparatory year for the IB Diploma Program (DP).

The program is made up of six subjects, with most subjects at two different levels, Standard level or Higher level. At least 3 subjects must be chosen at Higher level. The offspring chose to study 4 subjects at Higher level.

In the past he has followed the law of least resistance so this is an incredible change. How well he will pull it off remains to be seen but I am SUPER PROUD of his intentions.

Come on!!

For transparency and my own agenda, I strongly dislike our previous government, the Social Democrats with the support of the Green Party and the tacit acceptance of the Left Party, who ruled Sweden for 8 years. At the last election, I voted for the current government.

The municipality of Stockholm is governed by Social Democrats and the Green Party with the tacit acceptance of the Left Party.

An Eritrean cultural festival has been organized for decades on the Jarvafaltet outside Stockholm. They have been allowed to rent premises, toilets, water and electricity from Stockholm municipality during these years.

Eritreans in exile stormed the festival last year, said to have strong links to the Eritrean regime, leading to riots and chaos. Cars and equipment were set on fire and the police had to intervene.

Despite the disaster last year, the government in Stockholm, i.e. Social Democrats and the Green Party, first gave permission to organize the cultural festival again this year. After being heavily criticized in social media, the government in Stockholm chose to change its mind and withdrew the permit.

However, the harsh criticism on the various platforms has absolutely nothing to do with the change in the decision, according to the social democratic financial councilor Karin Wanngard.

WTF

At the beginning of the week it was revealed that our previous government has created, in addition to the authorities they mentioned, another 25 authorities that are not mentioned anywhere.

It was our current government that, after just over 18 months in power, discovered these authorities. That Sweden with approximately 10.5 million inhabitants would need 342 plus the newly discovered 25 authorities is unthinkable.

More than 80% of our authorities consist of former Swedish Social Democrats who either lost their parliamentary seat in an election or voluntarily chose to quit. Which means in practice that the newly started authorities are nothing more than an "elephants' graveyard" where the careers of Swedish Social Democrats goes to die while waiting for a pension at the expend of us taxpayers.

Now I really hope that our current government fulfills its election promise to radically reduce the number of authorities.

Not the sharpest move to be honest

It is almost time to submit the individual income tax return for 2023. Both my husband and I will receive more than $2,400 each. We have chosen not to adjust our income tax payments during the year in order to have a "hidden" saving.

Actually, it's one of the dumbest decisions you can make financially. The result is that you "lend" this money to the state almost for free for 6-18 months, depending on which month the tax belongs to and when you receive the actual payment.

As we own the limited company in which we are employed and therefore have to submit a number of attachments, our payment will be delayed by 6 months compared to if we had not had to submit these attachments.

My dad - my uncle's savior

My parents just sent a text to the family group.

Our uncle, my dad's brother, has been given a place in the nursing home, which is almost next door with our parents' home. So right now our uncle has 3 homes, the nursing home he currently lives in, the nursing home he will move to on Wednesday and his apartment in Stockholm's inner city since 58 years ago.

The nursing hone he is moving to is so much better than the one he is in. How our dad could believe that our uncle would be fine during their 4 week vacation considering that our uncle suffered various seizures last year that were so severe that he was taken by ambulance 13 times none of us understand.

Because it will be Dad who gets to move him to a better nursing home, unlike us who moved him from his own apartment to a bad nursing home, Dad will be his savior. Since Dad is his brother and next of kin, we're glad Dad gets that role, even if Dad gets off lightly considering he "dodged" the decisive step of moving him into a nursing home.
