Good times are coming

Now it is only hours left until the third best dividend month for this year.

As I feared, the withdrawal that we did at the end of July has lowered October's dividend, which according to my calculations, reaches only a third place. I hate when the results goes down instead of up, but you can't get everything.

We got 5 amazing vacation weeks in Florida instead.

I have to improve

By now we have already received just under 88% of last year's total dividend.

At the end of next month, almost all 4 portfolios have earned more dividend compared to last year. Only one portfolio doesn't keep up the pace, mine. It looks like both my husband and son are more willing to take risks than me or are better at saving. Which is consistent with the truth I keep to myself.

Since it is always a competition, I am incredibly annoyed right now.

Still no big spender

September continued in the same way as August. Absolutely no contribution to the portfolio, only reinvestment of the dividends.

At present, we have different perceptions of what to do with any excess salary. Previously, we have invested everything on the stock exchange, but my better half believes that the problem with Iran can affect the stock exchange and wants to pay off the mortgage instead.

I think we should continue as before because the interest rate is so low in comparison. We'll see who goes home with the winnings.

Maybe I can predict the future

Monday will be the last time I will have a preliminary reconciliation of my document on future dividends. From January 2020, I will work with calculated numbers instead of preliminary ones.

If my numbers match reality, I can predict our future dividends. I will also be able to see how withdrawals or deposits affect the final result. It is so exciting that I can hardly wait.

Probably the last dividend of the month

This morning I woke up to what I think are the last dividends of the month, EDF and HCAP. Even though the amounts were smaller, it is a great feeling to wake up in the morning and see that you made some money while sleeping.

Distribution of dividends

There are 5 factors that influence me when I buy securities. At the moment there are actually 6 factors if I am to be completely honest. I want to smooth out the flow of payments.

Since I have 4 fantastic months and 8 less good ones, I am trying to prioritize companies on our list with payment day during these 8 months. The diagram below shows the family's total dividends in relation to the payment month.

Today things went better

No acquisitions were made last night. Although I stated a higher purchase price than the sale price, I did not get any closure last night. The same goes for both my husband's and my son's portfolios. Nordea must have had problems with share purchases.

Things went better today. The world's most perfect child received a smaller number of OXLC, I continued to invest in WPG and my husband bought a control post from BBDC. A great way to end the work week.

9.26.2019

Say what lasts forever

I hoped that even today I could wake up to notifications that money had been entered into my account. But no. I'd rather sleep like Scrooge McDuck on money bags than the princess in once upon a mattress.

Unfortunately, due to the fact that Nordea did not transfer the money to the endowment insurance last night, I was unable to acquire CIM.

I take into account 5 factors when buying securities, stock price, yield, ex-dividend date, dollar rate and if it's a monthly or quarterly pay date. Which company will be acquired tonight I'm not really sure of yet.

9.25.2019

At the last moment

Today's small but albeit welcome dividends were immediately reinvested in CIM. The dividend was in the account for just over 12 hours before it was put into work. Today is last chance to purchase CIM, ex-dividend date is tomorrow. The fact that the choice fell on CIM is partly due to the fact that the payment date is in November, which is one of our weaker dividend months.

"Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it...he who doesn't...pays it." - Albert Einstein

Another fantastic morning

Today I woke up to seven notifications that I had received money into the account. No big sums but still seven different payments. The feeling of "getting money without doing anything" is amazing.

Even though I don't do any body work, I take risks with my hard earned money and invest in a business idea someone else has. It may not be physically hard to invest your money, but psychologically it can be very heavy. You always have to keep up with the market and choose whether to stay or leave. Making decisions is hard work.

9.24.2019

My best purchase is also my worst purchase

Our son comes in to our bed if he wakes up at night. He has been complaining about his mattress for a long time. I thought he was just a little grumpy.

Two weeks ago, I gave up for the first time during his 12-year life and laid in his bed instead after he had accidentally woken me 4 times on the same night. When I barely got out of bed due to back pain, we immediately went and bought him a new bed.

Since then he has not come to us for a single night. Now I wake up because I miss him instead.

What a great start to the day!

Today was a good day to wake up to. When I looked at my phone I saw notifications that I had received dividends deposited in my Nordnet account.

I had received both MAIN and SNR. If my notes are correct I will wake up to the same message tomorrow. Getting out of bed is so much easier on such days.

Worried me unnecessarily

When Nordea the other day did a big thing of their front page being completely turned around, I got nervous because at least their website was working passably. It turned out that my concern was unjustified. Their new front page has passed me completely unnoticed.

I really wish they could get Nordea Investor to work with Excel so that the exported document could be calculated, or get notifications when a dividend was paid to the account. Please Nordea, buy Avanza and copy and paste their page.

Brexit

It is usually a feeling of joy when the goal approaches. This is not how the outside world feels about Brexit. There are so many affected by Brexit, both people and nations.

The latest in the line is the British travel company Thomas Cook. Today's bankruptcy affects millions of people around the world. Not just the people who are stranded at distant destinations or those who sit at airports and in vain are waiting for aircrafts that will not arrive. Also the relatives who doesn't know when their loved ones are coming home again, hotel and transport companies that do not get paid. Countries that have to pay to transport their citizens home and so on.

The latter means that even all taxpayers in the countries concerned are affected.

Money laundering

The Scandinavian countries' law on money laundering means that if you want to deposit more than $1,000, the bank staff must ask where you got the money from. Sometimes you can even have to present a receipt for the legitimate.

Now it has emerged that it is the banks themselves that have been responsible for most of the money laundering for all sorts of criminals.

Imagine if I did the following:

Me:             I want to withdraw $1,000 from my account

The bank:  Retrieves my money

Me:            Where does this money come from?

The bank:  ??

Me:            Since it has been found that the banks are engaged in advanced money laundering,
I want to make sure that this money does not come from that type of business.

Bank:          ... 🤭

Afternoon Date

The whole family went for a Sunday walk in the chilly weather. We walked over 10K. Autumn has come to Scandinavia so we lit a fire in the tile stove when we came home and sat together on the sofa with one computer each.

Our pre-tween "met" his classmates at Minecraft. He had spent enough time today with his parents according to his own statement. Then we began to prepare for the upcoming acquisitions. We reviewed our list and current holdings. We are quite clear with which companies we intend to buy next week.

We intend to try to increase acquisitions in companies with a dividend date in November. Provided that nothing unforeseen occurs. Obviously, collecting cash is not our thing.

Richer times are coming

The unbelievably expensive summer vacation in addition with 2 months of poor returns has meant that both August and September's investments have been severely neglected. Our cozy date nights with review, planning and execution of acquisitions has been a bit maltreated during these months.

This morning we lay on the sofa and went through the next week's distributions. It looks really good, MORL, REML and SMHD should get into the account. We are well invested in all three companies.

9.21.2019

The list will never end  grow

Yesterday I bought a small amount of shares in VET which is the latest company to enter our list. Their yield is currently just under 12%.

Not so long ago, the return was 16% but unfortunately I had no money at that time. They also have monthly dividends.

Whatever floats your boat

There are many blogs about FIRE. As I've written before, I try to live by FUEL (abbreviations) myself, which is not always easy.

Recently, I have read several blogs that question how free you really are when it seems you are surviving more than living. At the same time, I can get a little jealous of those who can save 80% off their net salary. In Scandinavia, they have even been referred to as crispbread millionaires.

You have to know the difference

There is a huge difference between revenue and income respectively expenses and costs. It makes me a bit angry to hear a Scandinavian finance minister say that the large age groups with mainly people of the nineteen forties who have retired are a big expense for the state and the municipality.

She should have labeled them as a cost. Everyone with a little ability to think logically understands that sooner or later a person will switch from generating revenues to expenses. In order to balance these items, revenues and expenses should be recorded over the same time period. If you do, it becomes very clear that this age group has been a much larger source of revenues than expenses.

On the contrary, we should be grateful for their great contribution to society.

9.19.2019

Good times are coming

In this extremely poor dividend month, I have a small treat to look forward to, REML. In addition to their return being very good, we are over-invested in the company. After rain comes the sunshine, next month will be the third best dividend month of the year.

I wish I had such a machine

That Federal Reserve lowered the policy rate was expected. Their plus interest rates are considerably higher than the negative rates of many other countries.

I understand that they have to lower interest rates, they have to drown in money. Had they not lowered interest rates, the consequence could be an even more expensive dollar for the outside world and their exports could suffer.

A little unlucky that the attack in Saudi Arabia came at the same time as interest rates were lowered. Now that Saudi is taking home astronomical sums, the banknote printing machine must go for high pressure in America.

My quest for financial independence continues

Also this time I bought WPG. Why am I continuing my acquisition of WPG?

I have a long way to go until I am fully invested in the share
- Their return is far too large for me to avoid
- I can buy a larger number because they are still low in price
- They are on my list
- The payout months are March, June, September and December (my absolute weakest months)

My better half has none in their portfolio.

9.18.2019

A factor I missed

Almost whole WPG's rise from last week is erased. It doesn't worry me the least. All I wish is that their yield remains. One factor that I completely missed is that the company has payout day during my absolute worst months. I will most likely buy a larger holding than I have planned.

Do not fix something that works barely

I logged into Nordea to check the portfolios. When I went to the page for Nordea Investor, a message came up: "Thank you for using Nordea Investor. Starting tomorrow, the site will have a completely new front page. We also have the lowest commission!"

Please Nordea, do not change your page. It can never be good. Just copy Avanza straight off.

I couldn't help but trade

The holding on the Nordnet depot, which also received an uneven number after DX split last summer, was finally leveled today.

Now I only have CIM, GPMT, NMFC and ORC left to level out on Nordnet. When I have leveled out these 4 companies, I will transfer all future dividends to Nordea.

9.16.2019

Code red

I'm a control freak. Having total control over things is very important to me. A minor problem may arise in the future, which I have completely missed.

The world's most perfect child and I will most certainly be in the menopause respective puberty at the same time. The husband will most likely have to go on eggshells here at home for a few years.

I need to restrain myself

Nordea deserves continued praise today. I logged in to see how the portfolio went in general. I discovered that my cash had increased significantly. The great thing about Nordea is that the account is immediately compensated with both dividend and foreign tax. Must really praise them for quick payouts.

I do not think the attacks on Saudi Arabia's oilfield are over yet and intend to remain in some cash for the near future. Since I know myself and know that I have a hard time not buying when I have money, I really hope I can keep that intention.

Feedback is A and O

The day started off in a very good way. Nordea replied local time before 9 a.m. regarding the inquiry I made late Friday afternoon.

Their solution to the problem of uneven integers after DX split a couple of months ago was less good but completely overshadowed by their quick reply. Well done Nordea!

9.15.2019

Can't find what I'm looking for

The weekend should be a time for recovery. What recovery is depends on where in the life you are. Fun reading about stocks and securities is the exact opposite of reading up on about stocks and securities, even though it is exactly the same text. Incidentally applies to many things in life.

Right now, our primary goal is to equalize payments between the various months. The frustration I get when I do not find what I am looking for makes the recovery minimal. Will be nice to come back at the office tomorrow.

9.14.2019

You must not be too proud

Sometimes you have to re-evaluate your opinions. For the past six months, I have felt that my acquisitions have not really been financially advantageous given the dollar exchange rate.

After reading and evaluating what intelligent people have written, I have realized that the US dollar will probably cost us more onwards. This new insight makes my previous acquisitions feel much better today than a couple of weeks ago.

What goes up must come down

My holding of the WPG which I have bragged about the last few days took a little break yesterday. I suspect some of you secured some profits. It went so incredibly well for several days in a row.

Had I bought my entire holding on the bottom course, I might have secured some profits too. We are waiting for NRZ to go up to $18 so we can reduce our holdings a bit. In the meantime, we are grateful for the quarterly dividend.

I could hardly sleep tonight

Late yesterday afternoon, all the holdings were back into the Nordea account. Fastest recovery so far from Nordea.

As I went through my holdings, more carefully, I discovered to my great horror that we own 133.33 DX share in each portfolio. DX made a split in June, just before we left on vacation, which have lead to that our respective holdings is not an even singular.

A call to Nordea that resulted in them asked to come back next week with a solution to even out this share to an even number. My OCD is running amok right now.

9.13.2019

Do it right or do it again

A small price decline in symbiosis with a modest dividend meant I was going to buy a few shares this afternoon, local time. I logged in to move some cash from the private account to the endowment insurance for upcoming acquisitions.

Slightly annoyed, I discovered that all holdings in all accounts are gone, again. Now I have to say to Nordea's repository that it was several days, more precisely exactly 55 days since it last happened. An urging to Nordea's management, buy into Avanza and copy their website straight off. Your website is beyond all rescue.

The Emperor's New Clothes (by H C Andersen)

You know the story of the emperor's new clothes?! Something similar is going on in Sweden at the moment.

The large bank Swedbank's new chairman, as well as former party leader of the Social Democratic Party, has made a statement similar to what the child made in the story, that is, he uttered the truth.

What Goran Persson said was that quote "the one who pays the highest tax gets the worst service" unquote. Socialism is not as fun when you are the paying party ...

9.12.2019

The more simplification tools, the less leisure time

After much nagging on the world's most perfect husband's side, I downloaded the Seeking Alpha's app, the free version. I had never really understood why I should have it, until now.

Since I am in a different time zone, it is a fantastic tool to follow the pre and post market easily. Together with my documents, the app forms the very core of my trade. How I am I going to find time for my day job is a mystery.

9.11.2019

Nailed it...for now

Since we will not receive any dividends within the next ten days and therefore cannot make any acquisitions within that time frame, it is a pleasure to see WPG and our engine, OXLC, do so well right now.

When October comes, both prices and the dollar are welcome to drop. Speaking of WPG, I don't know how much more my husband can bear to hear me mention my purchases in WPG. Gloating is sometimes allowed!

Can be a brusque awakening

When stock prices goes up day after day, it is easy to become overpowered and get the feeling that trading shares is easy. At the moment, it almost feels like I'm investing in growth shares instead of dividend shares.

You have to keep your head cold and remember that the market can react to just about anything and prices can drop a lot and fast.

9.10.2019

It is a good day to own WPG shares

Having been bold and buying a downward share has, just today and yesterday, paid off. It is a bit sad that I have not bought more WPG but I am very happy with the ones I have. I am far from the target level so the course increase is not desirable right now.

9.09.2019

My victory parade continues

I really don't like to trade in the bull market but I couldn't help it. I continue to buy WPG. Each purchase reduces my NAV course and disturbs my husband a little.

A truly win-win

Psyduck

We saw the movie Pokemon Detective Pickachu last Saturday. The world's most perfect child laughed out loud and very much through the movie. One of the best movies ever according to Junior.

On Sunday morning for breakfast, the offspring said, quote "Mom, if you were a Pokemon you would be a Psyduck. Your head also explodes when you are stressed!" unquote. He is both funny and quick-thinking, though I did not admit it.

Rather safe than sorry

Since the entire deposit has been completely emptied of holdings on several occasions and money disappears for days on internal transfers, we have been printing our holdings on paper copies the last of each month this year.

Now we have further strengthened control. Our document with all our holdings has previously been divided at the deposit level. Now we have specified with holdings at each bank as well.

9.08.2019

Different folks, different strokes

I am grateful that the world's most perfect husband and I share the same values. All our investments are not financially based, we also invest in well-being, like traveling, spending time with our little family and having a nice home.

We have since we became a couple almost 25 years ago bought art. Not one of our paintings is a financial investment. We bought them because we like them. We like different materials so we have paintings of canvas, glass, enamel and most recently wooden planks. However, the young man in the family is of a different opinion quote "Mom, sorry but the last painting you bought is awful!" unquote.

You can't please them all.

9.07.2019

Forecast vs. actual income

My most recent document, which hopefully will be a reflection of our real-time dividends as of next year, has undergone some adjustments. Taking into account dividends with immediate repayment of foreign withholding tax vs. dividends with deferred repayment of the tax became more challenging than I expected.

Especially as the holdings in the different depots change constantly due to acquisition. I have solved it by calculating on the lowest level of return for the entire year. It will be really exciting to follow the forecast in the document in comparison with the actual outcome.

It's always a competition.

9.06.2019

A single long wait

September, together with March, June and December, are my absolute worst dividend months. Besides the big payouts I get from OXLC in the beginning and SMHD in the end, the rest of the months is a single big void. A little like the eye of a hurricane. It is calm and quiet, absolutely nothing happens. All you can do is sit there and wait it out. A major difference though is I don't have to fear for my life.

I look forward to next month, but what I'm really after is the turn of the year. That is when my document of compound interest will be tested in sharp mode.

Nordea's new CEO

One of the banks we use, Nordea, has been appointed a new CEO. I have no knowledge of him, even though he was apparently the CEO of another of Sweden's major banks a few years ago.

That bank fired him. Nordea is almost twice the size of the bank he got fired from, so this is a big comeback for him. What it will mean for us customers will be exciting to see. We have no credit with Nordea, only equity deposits.

In order for him to become a winner in my eyes, he just needs to keep repaying foreign taxes at the current rate and get order on their website. I wish he could copy Avanza's page directly. It's almost perfect.

9.04.2019

7 ways from Sunday

Because the world's most perfect child is our only child, we have no previous experience with children. Today, for example, he will remove his stitch after the surgery of his ingrown toenail. The hospital said the school nurse could do this so he didn't have to take time off from school.

I asked what time he wanted me to come to school so we could go together to the school nurse. The answer I got was quote "This I fix myself!" unquote. Same with the money he got for his birthday. After counting them, he brought over 50% directly to the Nordea account. Is this the new normal?

9.03.2019

Be careful what you wish for

Every time we go on vacation we take the obligatory shadow image. When I posted the latest, I saw to my great horror that the world's most perfect child is soon taller than us. Or rather, me.

He has grown almost 0.8 inches just over 5 weeks. The offspring turned 12 last week and is almost 5''3". I've always wanted him to be tall, but maybe not too tall.

The experiment VII

All dividends this month comes from OXLC.

This means that the bars are approaching each other a little because the entire purchase ends up in the left bar.

9.02.2019

Only smaller dividends are to be expected

September is a very bad dividend month for us. Almost 80% of the entire month's dividend comes at the beginning or end of the month. October, on the other hand, will be fantastic, not quite as good as July, but still.

I can already conclude that July was the strongest dividend month for us this year. The next ATH when it comes to dividends will most certainly be January 2020.

The sum of all vices is constant

After my visit  to the dermatologist which ended with me having to contact another doctor to get a referral for blood lipid testing, I have ...
