An expensive day

Thursday morning I had an appointment with the dental hygienist. So that it does not affect my working hours, I always make sure to have the first appointment in the morning, 7.10 a.m. Both my dental hygienist and dentist belong to the same clinic in Solna City, which is just outside Stockholm City. Even if it takes about 90 minutes to go there and 90 minutes home, I never take the car as the way back to Stockholm City can take over 2 hours in rush hour traffic. At the same time, I enjoy walking in the morning, although perhaps not as early as 5.40 a.m.

I had a large overbite in the past which I corrected with braces and major jaw surgery almost 20 years ago. Because of this, I have a bonded retainer in both my upper and lower jaw that I have to wear for the rest of my life. During these almost 20 years, I have had to book an appointment with an orthodontist at regular intervals in recent years to refill the glue.

When I was at the dental hygienist, the glue came off one of the front teeth in the lower jaw when she was cleaning around my retainer. Even though it's been almost 20 years, the pain is much greater than you think when the tooth detaches from the retainer. Luckily my orthodontist had an appointment the same day so it was just a matter of going from one clinic to another, literally.

If nothing unforeseen happens, it will be 6 months until the next visit, when I first have an appointment with the dental hygienist and immediately after the dentist.
