He had high expectations

Having a child is like reliving your childhood, though on the replacement bench. Last Friday, the offspring attended his first ball. He could hardly sleep the night before the ball and was tense as a violin string in the morning.

With one of the biggest smiles I've ever seen on his lips, he walked into the school building. When we picked him up in the evening, the smile had been replaced by a very hanging head.  She didn't want to dance with him. My mother's heart broke. Fortunately, he quickly got over it.
