Tax money at work...

Our current government decided at the end of last year to waive the previous decision that Sweden's aid should amount to 1% of gross national income (GNI).

Despite the scrapped one percent target, Sweden is still at the top as a donor, only Luxembourg surpasses us. For 2023, our aid will end up at 0.88% of GNI.

This decision by the government has been called, among other things, "slaughter of aid".

The so-called "Infocom-project" was reduced from $13,330,350 to $1,720,045 was one of the areas named in this "slaughter of aid". The "Infocom-project" is an information project that aims to inform the Swedes about the aid money.

That the construction of letting a spending target govern the amount of aid has been destructive for aid, among other things with directors-general finding it a challenge to get rid of all tax money (TT, October 24, 2017).
