Sometimes it doesn't make sense

In Sweden, you pay for all medical care for your pet privately, usually with pet insurance. In most cases, you get an appointment with the vet the same day and can start any treatment right away. I have never heard of anyone having to wait for care when it comes to pets.

You can also take out private health insurance for yourself, but it does not cover serious illnesses such as cancer and the like. These diseases are treated by the government hospitals. Since we have long waiting times for care in Sweden, the consequence of this is that many pets get help faster than their owners.

Of course, I understand that there are far more people in Sweden than pets and that the animal is sometimes euthanized instead of being taken care of, but still.
