An expensive day

The day started with us receiving the invoice for the false tamper alarm that our alarm system sent to the security company a couple of weeks ago. I was the only one in the family who woke up to the doorbell ringing on our front door at 4 a.m.

The security guard showed his ID, then asked for my ID and made sure everything was okay. After that he wanted to check every single room including Junior's room and our bedroom where they were both still asleep in their beds. After completing the round, the security guard finished and went on his way. This morning we got the bill for the alarm response, $410.

A couple of hours later, the world's most perfect teenager sent a text. He had gotten back the last science exam and managed to get the highest grade, an 8. That means we need to pay him $100, $50 of which goes into his endowment insurance. Our plan to increase the offspring's motivation to study harder by paying him for certain grades on the tests has paid off.

Thank God it's evening now, because I can't handle any more unexpected expenses today.
