Walking the fine line between genius and insanity

Mine and my husband's safety philosophy is a bit higher than the Average Joe's. A security concept we use that I've written about before is that we never just open the front door when the doorbell rings. It is only after we have ensured that we really know the person who rings our front door that we open the door.

Also, all possible online orders are always collected at the delivery point. If something can't be left at a drop-off location, they may leave the package outside our front door.

In addition to this, there are certain branded clothes that Junior is not allowed to wear outside the home. There is nothing that would make me risk him being robbed, beaten and humiliated just because he wears clothes the criminals want.

Finally, in today's digital world, share certificates are no longer sent in paper form by our online banks. In order to be able to substantiate our holdings after a possible future cyber attack against any of our online banks, I print out a summary of our holdings on each endowment insurance in each bank at the end of each month.

All this may seem paranoid, but rather safe than sorry.
